Dean Karns, Jr., more affectionately known as ‘Disco Dean,’ is just about the most outgoing guy you will ever meet at a race track. You can’t miss Dean at the track with his bright, loud, and wild hairdos. His wife, Jackie, is a hair stylist and Dean voluntarily lets her use his hair as a test canvas.

The Disco moniker, just as the racing passion, was passed down from Dean’s father, Dean Sr. Both Dean Sr. and Jackie go racing with Disco Dean as much as possible, making it not only a family tradition, but a family pastime.

Based out of Fairborn, Ohio, where he owns and operates his window tint business, Tint King, Dean represents the local racing community very well. Dean has won several big money bracket racing events throughout his short driving career. Before he was a drag racer, Dean was a three time Lowrider Magazine World Hydraulic Car Dancing Champion.

During his racing career, Dean has established himself as one of the best local racers and made himself known for having one of the craziest looking cars at the track. While driving a Disco-themed, lava lamp-inspired, neon yellow dragster, Dean won the 2008 NHRA/NOPI Extreme Dragster World Championship while setting the NHRA/NOPI World Record with a ¼ mile E.T. of 6.53 at a speed of 207.94 miles per hour.

Dean’s newest car is a brand new 2012 Dual-Suspended Diamond Dragster powered by a blown 532 cubic inch big block Chevy pushing 1200 horsepower. The car is very similar to the one he wheeled to the 2008 championship, which is a step toward his dream of driving a Top Fuel Dragster or Funny Car. When asked of his goals, Dean said with a smile, “I want to win at least 15 races in 2012, but my main goal is to someday drive a nitro car! Flopper or Digger, I don’t care.”

Dean is extremely competitive with everything he does – as his dad used to say, “if you’re going to be a trash man, then you be the best trash man there is.”
